Effect
Alcoholic extract of plant shows tranquilising,
sedative and anti-anxiety effects in experimental
animals. The herb produces significant intellectual
improvement in mentally retarded children. Triterpenoid
fraction of the plant improves the condition in-patients
with venous hypertension. Centella asiatica and its
constituent (chiefly asiaticoside) are beneficial in the
treatment of wounds and ulcerous skin abnormalities.
Action
Different fractions of the drug Centella asiatica have
shown barbiturate hypnosis potentiation effect in
growing albino rats. It has also anticonvulsive
activity, besides producing significant alterations in
the neurochemistry of the brain. The extract of the
fresh plant significantly inhibits gastric ulceration
induced by cold restraint stress (CRU) in rats. In
pharmacological tests the plant has exhibited sedative,
anti-depressant activity in albino rats. The
asiaticoside, a glucoside, has given encouraging results
for the treatment of leprosy.Crude extract of
Centella asiatica and constituents derived from it
(glycosides) have been screened as oral infertility
agents in albino mice. These are reported to cause
reduction in fertility in the female mice. Spasonins of
this plant have shown spermicidal activity in human
semen, in both the spot and JPPE test.

Centella asiatica (6:1) - 500 mg (Whole plant extract)

1 capsule two times a day with water.
